Needled.com
On the heels of re-engineering Coolhunting.com and launching Tropolism.com, Captain Lucas contracted me as Front End Architect for Needled.com, their web site about tattoo culture. The project was to create the site's page templates, integrate them into a Movable Type content management system, and supply clear documentation to guide their future modification. I made the sale, wrote the statement of work, and provided the technical expertise — taking care to deliver accessible, fully standards-compliant, cross-browser HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
Captain Lucas is a lean startup and I was a contractor so my responsibilities included aspects of several roles beyond Web Developer, including Account Manager, QA Engineer, Technical Writer, and Client Services Engineer. This breadth of experience was great practice for my career as Product Manager, enriches my perspective leading front end development teams, and enhances my ability as Sales Engineer.
The successful completion of this project led to an additional contract as Front End Developer for MTV's Flux.com.
